NORSAN Algae Oil
100% vegan omega-3
Microalgae Schizochytrium sp.
NORSAN Algae Oil is sourced from the microalgae Schizochytrium sp., a unique organism that synthesizes both vital marine Omega-3 fatty acids: EPA and DHA.
With over 30 years of industry experience, our team has a deep understanding of the body’s ideal fatty acid balance. We leverage this expertise to use only the finest raw materials. Our algae oil is chosen based on the following fundamental criteria:
- High Omega-3 Content – Rich in both EPA and DHA. While many algae oils currently on the market provide only DHA, we ensure a balanced profile that meets the body’s full requirements.
- Natural Extraction – We keep our processing as natural as possible, avoiding any artificial “high-concentration” of fatty acids to preserve the oil’s integrity.
- Purity & Integrity – We maintain exceptional analytical standards, ensuring low TOTOX values and a product that is rigorously tested for heavy metals and PCBs.
- Sustainability – Environmentally conscious cultivation and sourcing are at the heart of our mission.
- 100% Vegan – A purely plant-based solution for optimal health.
Low Totox Value

Plant-based algae oil – 100% vegan

NORSAN algae oil is a 100% plant-based oil and therefore suitable for a vegan diet. The algae oil is produced in separate facilities than those for fish oil. With a high content of both the marine omega-3s DHA and EPA, the NORSAN algae oil offers a real vegan alternative to consuming fish or fish oils.
Extraction
The algae is cultivated in artificial seawater and then fermented in an aqueous environment. The crude oil is extracted with the aid of a centrifuge. The process is particularly gentle on the fatty acids. NORSAN Algae Oil is produced in an oxygen-free processing environment, so our oil is optimally protected from oxidation. The cultivation of the algae also makes the algae oil very low in pollutants. We used a modern plant that filters the oil in a unique way.
Sustainability
Algae oil is the sustainable answer for a sufficient high intake of omega-3 fatty acids.
The marine habitats have a natural limit to how much fish can be caught without endangering the fish stocks and marine environment. On the other hand, there is a high need for omega-3 fatty acids, as 9 out of 10 have a significant omega-3 deficit.
The solution lies with algae oil: it is grown in artificial seawater, so there are no real limits for how much can be grown. Since these microalgae also are the food basis for fish and krill, consuming algae oil is leaping one step (or two) and going directly to the source.
