Naturally Rich in omega-3 fatty acids

The fish oil stems from wild and sustainable fishing. The fish oil is not derived as a by-product, but directly from the entire fish. Small fish such as sardines, mackerel and anchovies are caught in the wild. Fishing is carried out according to strict guidelines for sustainable fishery and is certified by the famous “Friends of the Sea” label. The fish oil is cleaned of pollutants and PCBs and controlled according to strict Norwegian regulations.

Entirely natural – not a concentrate

The Omega-3 oils and capsules are made from natural fish oil—not a concentrate—containing a fatty acid complex of over 50 fatty acids. Our fish oil is extracted and purified using gentle methods that preserve the fish’s natural fatty acid structure. The difference between natural fish oil and a concentrate is that, in concentrates, the natural fatty acid structure of the fish oil is altered through various chemical processes in order to artificially increase the concentration of omega-3 fatty acids.

Unique 3-step cleaning with micro distillation

For this purification process, we use a state-of-the-art facility in Norway that filters and purifies the oil in a unique way to remove heavy metals, contaminants, and PCBs. At the same time, the valuable properties of the natural fish oil are preserved. The special refining process is based on an effective and unique three-step purification process.

While conventional industrial processes rely solely on a two-step purification, we additionally perform a special and unique purification using micro-distillation in a third step, which precisely filters out the remaining contaminants. This allows us to offer the best and purest quality.

For NORSAN Total Fish Oil, an oxygen-free processing environment is guaranteed, ensuring our oil is optimally protected against oxidation. Oxidation causes a fishy odor and has an unpleasant effect on the taste. The TOTOX value—the oxidation value or “freshness” value of the oil (the lower the value, the fresher the oil)—is in the low range of approximately 10, confirming the oil’s high freshness.
